14th Annual Kids Free Fishing Day in La Crosse – June 6, 2026

The Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO is excited to host La Crosse’s 14th Annual Kids Free Fishing Day – June 6, 2026. The event will be held on Saturday June 6, 2026 at Chad Erickson Memorial Park in La Crosse. The Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO is teaming up with Union Sportsmen’s Alliance’s (USA) Boots on the Ground conservation program to host this event.

Fishing poles with reels (to keep!), bait, light picnic-style sealed snacks and drinks will be provided but participants must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone.

The first 125 children registered to attend and attending (aged 2-16) will receive a fishing rod, reel and an outdoors goodie bag courtesy of the Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO and the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance. For the 14th year Ace Hardware of La Crosse will be donating bait for the kids.

The event is free but advanced registration is recommended.

Over 1,250 children and their parents have attended this event in the last ten years.

Since the event coincides with Wisconsin DNR’s “Free Fishing Weekend“; adults won’t need licenses to join their children and fish on the 3rd.
