Today, there are only three Worker Newspapers in Wisconsin. They are the Union Herald in La Crosse, the Union Labor News in Madison, and the Southeast Labor Times in Kenosha. As you can readily see the Union Herald is the only worker voice for all of Western Wisconsin and parts of Eastern Minnesota.

The Union Herald asks for the support of working families and unions in Western Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota in creating and supplying to all those who toil for their daily bread a pro-labor, pro-union monthly newspaper. Many unions currently support our efforts with partial, full and some even area-wide subscriptions to the Herald. However, we need to expand our coverage in order to fully promote and preserve our views and policies throughout the community.

  • Our newspaper is printed by Evans Print & Media Group, in Sparta by members of GCC/IBT Local 77-P.
  • It is sorted and handled by members of the APWU Local 360 employed at the La Crosse Post Office.
  • It is delivered to four thousand addresses by letter carriers who are members of NALC Branch 59 as well as other NALC Branches throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Union Herald Subscribers may: participate in the monthly paper by submitting essays, articles, photos, political educational pieces or opinions, notices of meeting or elections; in short whatever is of use and value to each particular union. We recommend that those with a significant number of subscribers submit a monthly piece related to their memberships.

Prices and Deadlines. Each issue costs only 85 cents per mailing address per issue. This is only $10.20 a year for 12 issues to each member you subscribe.

The deadline for submissions is the first of each month.

Unions’ Subscriptions. Any union may order any number of subscriptions for their officers and members (from a dozen to your entire membership) by submitting a mailing list to the Herald. The Herald will make arrangements to bill for these subscriptions either annually or monthly, as directed by the subscribing union.

Materials and Mailing List information. Written articles may be submitted by email, or mail.

Mailing lists may be sent by email in Excel format or by hard copy. The Union Herald holds mailing lists confidential and address corrections are forwarded to our subscribing unions at no cost.

Please review and consider subscribing to add your voice to the working family community.
