New Year’s Day 2020: January 1, 2020
As our nation rang in the New Year, the US Census Bureau projected the United States and world populations on New Year’s Day. The Census Bureau’s US and World Population Clock simulates real-time growth of the United States and world populations.
Each year in December, the Census Bureau releases annual population estimates for each state and the District of Columbia as of the previous July 1st. The vintage 2019 population estimates cover the period from July 1, 2018, to July 1, 2019. The Census Department calculates the annual percent change for each state and rounds the percent to one decimal place.
